General Business Meeting
Secretary’s Report
October 14, 2009
 
Call to Order
President Jennifer Swinney called the October 14, 2009 meeting of the San Antonio Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction to order at 6:09 pm at the Petroleum Club.
 
Pledge
Jennifer Swinney led the Chapter in the Pledge of Allegiance
 
Inspiration
Belinda Graham with Clark Construction gave the inspiration.
 
Introductions of members and guests took place.
 
Meeting minutes
The meeting minutes for the September 2009 general meeting were approved as posted and will be filed as written.
 
Committee Reports:
 
Membership
  • Sandee Morgan announced that we currently have 81 members. She announced that we have a 85% retention of members.
  • Monica Comacho with Clark Construction was the winner of the Drawing for the watch
  • New Member luncheon date is set for October 27, 2009; contact Sandee Morgan if you would like to attend.
  • Gala Burns was the winner of the monthly drawing for bringing guests; she won a visa gift card.
 
Community Service – Terri Pasley read a letter of appreciation from the Fisher House. 
 
Construct-A-Kids Christmas Gala
Sandee Morgan reported the following:
  • Benefits the Bexar County Child Protective Services
  • The date is set for December 3rd, 2009
  • Save the Date email blast was sent out.
  • Andrea Lopez and her mother donated several doll houses for the auction.
 
Christmas Meeting
Dawn Holmes reported that the Christmas party will be held at Terri Urbanczyk’s ranch house on Friday December 11th at 6 pm, with supper being served at 6:30. The cost is $15 per person paid in advance. A flyer was given out with all the details.
 
NEF
Celeste Estep reported that there will be a Construction bookkeeping 101 class offered, sign up by December 15, test will be in February 2010.
 
 
NEF Trustee
  • Judy DeWeese reported on the NEF Ladder Club – Donations are tax deductable, she also presented President Jennifer Swinney with a Chapter Ladder Pin.
  • NEF Trustee position available – Meet twice a year, serve on committee, help generate money for NAWIC Foundation. Election to be held at mid year convention.
 
Scholarship
Jennifer Swinney read a letter from Texas A&M thanking NAWIC for granting scholarships and supporting the Construction Education programs.
 
*Program
  • Loretta Chapa, Owner/CEO of Paramount Receivable Solutions gave a presentation on “Credit and Collections”
  • Jennifer Swinney presented Loretta with a certificate of appreciation for her presentation.
 
 
Old Business
  • Give Back Baby Pics – Jennifer has pictures that need to be picked up.
  • Strategic Plan Meeting – Reports were printed and out on tables.
  • AGC BBQ was a huge success.
  • Wounded Warriors – Terri Pasley expressed her thanks for all who volunteered, it was a lot of fun and we will do again next year.
  • Certificates and plaques from the September meeting were presented.
  • NAWIC Goddess shirts are here, see Sandee Morgan.
 
New Business
·         The board accepted the resignation of Kim Miller and elected Terri Pasley to serve as Director
·         Jennifer attended the Dallas Installation Meeting
·         Alice Dolle handed out a Personal Info sheet; she went over the importance of using and where to keep this information. Alice suggested keeping one in glove box of your auto and one at your home; in case of emergency all the information is ready for your use.
·         Friends of NAWIC – Forms were handed out, please return them to Terri Pasley.
·         Parker Golf Tourny – Andrea Lopez reported that NAWIC sponsored hole #2, they donated four one year carwashes for our chapter. 
 
Split pot Raffle went to Leslie Hernandez with Cram Roofing
Drawing for carwashes went to Gala, Ruby, Martha, and Lorretta.
 
Dates to Remember
  • October 16 & 17 – APC Waco
  • October 21 – Board Meeting – being held at Keller-Martin Office
  • October 27 – New Member Luncheon – email will be sent out
  • November 3 – Gala Committee Meeting
  • November 4 – General Meeting
  • November 18 – Board Meeting
