General Business Meeting
Secretary’s Report
November 4, 2009
Call to Order
President Jennifer Swinney called the November 4, 2009 meeting of the San Antonio Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction to order at 6:18 pm at the Petroleum Club.
Pledge
Jennifer Swinney led the Chapter in the Pledge of Allegiance
Inspiration
Belinda Graham with Clark Construction gave the inspiration.
Introductions of members and guests took place.
Meeting minutes
The meeting minutes for the October 2009 general meeting were approved as posted and will be filed as written.
Committee Reports:
Community Service – Terri Pasley reported that she is in contact with the Wounded Warrior program about NAWIC sponsoring two families for Christmas.
Membership
- Sandee Morgan talked about what it takes to be a Red Rose Recruiter, you must get 18 people to join NAWIC within 3 years
- New Member luncheon date is set for November 17, 2009,it will be held at the office of Engineering Safety Consultants, contact Sandee Morgan if you would like to attend.
- Mary Fletcher was the winner of the monthly drawing for bringing guests.
Construct-A-Kids Christmas Gala
Sandee Morgan reported the following:
- Benefits the Bexar County Child Protective Services
- The date is set for December 3rd, 2009
- Tables are still available, contact Sandee Morgan if interested.
- NAWIC will have designated tables if you are interested in purchasing tickets and sitting at the NAWIC table contact Sandee.
Christmas Meeting
Dawn Holmes reported that the Christmas party will be held at Terri Urbanczyk’s ranch house on Friday December 11th at 6 pm, with supper being served at 6:30. The cost is $15 per person paid in advance. A flyer was given out with all the details.
NEF
Celeste Estep reported that there will be a Construction bookkeeping 101 class offered, sign up by December 15, test will be in February 2010. The Chapter has instructional materials for this class, if interested see Celeste.
Safety Committee
Kim C. talked about the Safety Award, applications are available at meetings.
*Program
- Maryanna Christensen, CPCU gave a wonderful presentation about networking.
- Jennifer Swinney presented Maryanna with a certificate of appreciation for her presentation.
Old Business
- Certificates and plaques from the September meeting were presented.
- APC – Belinda Graham read a report about her APC experience.
New Business
· Due to the increasing membership, the board voted to have an additional director. Celeste Estep was elected as a Director
· Standing Reservations – The board approved that members can now pay one time $243, which includes next 9 meetings at $27 per meeting, plus you get to attend IAN for just $27 as opposed to the usual increased rate.
o Leslie Hernandez asked if not able to make a meeting could you send a representative in your place, the board will discuss.
Split pot Raffle of $82.50 went to Patty Wyle with Johnson Controls.
