General Business Meeting
Secretary’s Report
June 2, 2010
Call to Order
President Jennifer Swinney called the June 2, 2010 meeting of the San Antonio Chapter of the National Association of Women in Construction to order at 6:05 pm at the Petroleum Club.
Inspiration: Belinda Graham shared an inspiration on Change.
Introductions of members and guests took place.
President Jennifer Swinney announced the following:

Special Recognition to Leslye Hernandez who was printed in the April/May Connection Issue for Faces of the Industry.

Congratulations to the following members who passed their NEF certifications:
Sandee Morgan – CBT
Judy DeWeese – CBT
Mary Fletcher – CBT
Cherie Foerster – CIT (this brings our total to 10, our goal is 15)
Be sure to update your certifications on the NAWIC National website*

Next NEF Testing date is August 6th – registrations are due by June 15th
Congrats to Cara Garratt for passing her exam to become a certified personal trainer!
Becky Wynne with the Scholarship Committee introduced and spoke about Scholarship recipient, Daniel Wilson, he and his mother were in attendance. Daniel thanked the Chapter for their support and gave an update on his attendance to Texas A&M Kingsville, he is a Mechanical Engineering Major and this past semester maintained a 4.0 GPA.
Program – Guest Speaker:
Britt Rusche & Lori Green with IBTX: Britt gave a highly informative presentation on Healthcare Reform, followed by a Q&A Session. He supplied a handout to all members, which I have attached to the minutes.
Meeting minutes
The meeting minutes for the May 2010 general meeting were approved as posted and will be filed as written.
Treasurer’s Report
The May Treasurer’s Report was approved by the board, and is available from Treasurer, Andrea Lopez.
Committee Reports:
Habitat for Humanity – June 12th, Sandee has signup sheet for volunteers, must signup by Wednesday June 9th.
