On Friday, September 23 , the members of the San Antonio NAWIC Chapter rolled up their sleeves to assist in the annual Ft. Sam Houston Fisher House Thank You. The event's purpose was to honor Zachery Fisher, the Fisher House founder, and to thank the workers at BAMC, Center for the Intrepid, and individuals who have supported the Fisher House throughout the year.
Around 1500 attendees enjoyed BBQ brisket and sausage and all the trimmings. In addition to the great food there was live music and prizes. The Fisher House is located within walking distance of Brooks Army Medical Center and was built to provide comfort, care, and compassion to members of the military and their families while the military member is receiving medical treatment. Family members can stay in the houses at very reasonable prices for either short or long periods depending on the length of time necessary for the military member to recover from his or her medical condition.
